Our Story

My inspiration for Cheney's Zen Karate & Kickboxing Studios stemmed from a deeply personal experience. Having practiced martial arts since childhood, I often found the intensity of training overwhelming. It was during a family crisis that I stumbled upon Tai Chi, an ancient art form that taught me the importance of peace and patience. The gentle yet powerful movements helped me heal, not just physically but emotionally. This life-altering journey urged me to share this invaluable practice with others in Red Deer. I envisioned a space where anyone, regardless of age or fitness level, could come to learn and thrive without fear of judgment. This led to the establishment of my studio, a haven for all who wish to escape stress and embrace a path of wellness. Watching my students grow, both in skill and confidence, continues to be my greatest joy and motivation.
